Elba City Schools is now using our notification system to call, text, or email parents each day their child is absent from school. We believe this will be a valuable tool to help families stay informed and support strong attendance.

As with any new system, there may be a few minor issues to work through at first. We appreciate your patience as we work to keep you informed in a timely and accurate manner.

Please make sure your contact information in PowerSchool is current and correct. If you need to update your phone number or email address, you can do so in PowerSchool or contact your child’s school for assistance. Thank you for partnering with us to support student success!

Mrs. Kilcrease’s 1st graders have been working hard on their Black History Month display, and we couldn’t be prouder of their efforts! ❤️

Students completed reports on Ruby Bridges, Rosa Parks, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. They learned not only who these important leaders were, but also the courage, bravery, and strong character they demonstrated in standing up for what is right.

As a class, they worked collaboratively to create a beautiful poster centered around Dr. King’s powerful reminder:

“I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.”

This quote sparked thoughtful conversations about kindness, fairness, and choosing love even when it isn’t easy.

Throughout the unit, students also deepened their understanding of key terms such as segregation, boycott, and discrimination. We are so proud of their teamwork, effort, and the meaningful discussions that took place in the classroom.

Way to go, 1st grade! 🌟

Today we roll out the red carpet, sound the sirens (the happy kind 🚓), and shine the brightest spotlight on a true hometown hero, Officer Dale England, our incredible School Resource Officer at Elba Elementary! Officer England isn’t just the friendly face in uniform walking our halls, he is a protector, a mentor, a role model, a high five champion, a lunchroom legend, and quite possibly the fastest fist bumper in Coffee County! From morning drop off to afternoon dismissal, he stands as a steady presence of safety, kindness, and calm for our students and staff. He doesn’t just keep our school safe, he builds relationships. He doesn’t just enforce rules, he teaches respect. He doesn’t just wear a badge, he wears compassion, patience, and dedication every single day. Our students know him as the officer who ✨ Greets them with a smile ✨ Encourages them to make good choices ✨ Listens when they need a trusted adult ✨ Shows them what integrity and service truly look like Officer England represents the very best of Elba, strong, steady, and deeply committed to our children. Because of him, our students feel safer, our staff feels supported, and our families feel reassured. So today, we say THANK YOU, Officer Dale England! Thank you for your watchful eyes, your servant’s heart, and your unwavering dedication to Elba Elementary. You are appreciated more than words can express, and we are beyond blessed to have you as part of our school family. Elba Elementary is safer, stronger, and better because of YOU. #SROAppreciationDay #ElbaElementary #OfficerDaleEngland #OurHeroInBlue
